1.) Subject: what is/are your piece(s) of/about? Are you drawing from life or images/imagination?
My third piece is about a lot of people marry or get in a relationship through arranged marriage. My second piece is the reflection of a ballerina's inner self, which turns out to be a young basketball player. My frist piece is a girl with Chinese traditional clothing caged in her room doing embroidery. I'm drawing from imagination. 2.) Inspiration: Have you come across any new inspiration since your first concentration piece? Did your first piece inspire you to take a new direction or improve/clarify on your overall concept? Before I started my pieces, my concentration is on the problems women face, but as I work through my pieces, I changed my concentration into people sometimes can't do what they want. 3.) Medium/Materials: What mediums/materials did you use (paper, acrylic paint, graphite etc,)? What were you successful with and what did you struggle with in using these materials? I used tablet to do my work, but I'm also thinking do them on paper using pen. I was successful with coming up with drafts really quickly and I was able to make changes easily. I really struggled with colouring with tablet because I was used to doing them on paper and canvas. 4.) Concept: How does each piece fit into the overall concept of your concentration? Has creating these images made your idea more clear or forced you to move in a new direction? Arranged marriage happens not because the two people like each other, but because they are suitable and their parents are happy about it. Be a ballerina seems like a typical girl's dream. Some girls don't have the typical dream, but there are many situations that are forcing them to blend in with the other girls. The woman in the cage is reflecting on how the society's view on women are imprisoning women.

This piece is from Macaulay Co. Fine Art by Jeneen Frei Njootli. I found this piece interesting because the material used by the artist are red latex and caribou antler. It also looks very simple, yet grabs my attention because the contrasting colour of the latex with the white wall.
